This “starting-a-freelance-business” shit is a fucking headache.

DUfus Film Festival: Sidewalls (Medianeras)

Sidewalls (Medianeras) [2011] (Argentina): 4/5 - Gustavo Taretto’s debut feature-length film is a witty dark comedy scoping in on the lives of two urbanites buried under the desolation of their “shoebox” apartments. The immaculate images of downtown Buenos Aires architecture perfectly frames loneliness in the realest, yet most virtual sense in terms of early 21st century communication. Smart and clever in its execution, it humbly evades the boastful nature of most art films.

DUfus Film Festival: Swingers

Swingers [1996]: 3.5/5 - Jon Favreau wrote and starred in this ’90s dude flick. Silly, but sweet. See Vince Vaughn at a less disgusting stage of evolution (excluding the part where he tries to eat off a lady’s face). Learn how to not pick up chicks!

DUfus Film Festival: The Vicious Kind

The Vicious Kind [2009]: 3/5 - Brittany Snow wears a fugly wig, J.K. Simmons acts as himself, and Adam Scott plays an excellent shithead. Alex Frost makes a genuine cute, prude boy. Rihanna wouldn’t like him. I appreciated the density of the characters. Strong acting, but I didn’t find myself caring too much about the story or the people involved.

Genius!

DUfus Film Festival: Welcome to the Rileys

Welcome to the Rileys [2010]: 3.5/5 - I loved the gritty nature of New Orleans and Kristen Stewart’s character. Not Stewart’s best performance, but props for having the balls to take on the role of her character. I loved the characters, but wish the narrative was a bit more developed, especially towards the end. And James Gandolfini… He just owns everything he does.

DUfus Film Festival: Religulous

Religulous [2008]: 4.5/5 - Finally, someone logical. Thank you, Bill Maher.

DUfus Film Festival: Resumed

Now that I’ve graduated from college and have no obligations other than working 30 hours/week, I will resume to the state of uselessness I was in during winter break. Watch with me!
